3rd Generation

James

James is a third generation farmer, born and raised on the family farm. Although he would work alongside his dad and uncle on the farm, he also worked in the earth moving business for 22 years, including working with County of Vulcan as the Deputy Public Works Superintendent. While doing this he independently grew his farming operation until he could focus on that full time.

He has received the Farm Business Management Certificate in Agriculture from the University of Saskatchewan, and holds certificates in soils and pesticides/ herbicides application from Olds College. Jim and Joanne live on the farm and Jim is currently involved with day to day farming operations and key management decisions.

When not farming James enjoys winter trips to Mexico when they fit into the schedule, spending time in Waterton, a favorite family holiday destination for many years, dinners out with friends and he and JoAnne also attend many Okotoks Dawgs baseball games as annual season ticket holders and organization supporters.

JoAnne

JoAnne grew up in New Brunswick and made her way to the Alberta prairies, where she met James and soon settled in to life on their family farm. She spent many years working for Big Bow Fertilizer/Agricore in Herronton and as an Admin at the High River Hospital.

While the farm is busy planting crops, JoAnne is also busy with planting of her own, seeding a large garden that produces enough fresh fruits and vegetables to keep us all well fed.

If she is not busy in her garden or greenhouse, she can be found mowing, delivering meals to the field, running to town to pick up parts or looking after her grandchildren. A hairdresser by trade, she is also the resident barber keeping everyone looking trim and tidy.

Aside from playing in the dirt, Joanne also loves to spend time with her friends, go to Okotoks Dawgs baseball games, camping and escaping to Mexico or Waterton.
